Privacy policy

In short: linkgap uses no tracking, no analytics and no advertising. The app uses exactly one cookie, to keep you signed in. This website sets none. The German Datenschutzerklärung is the binding version.

2. This website (linkgap.app)

This website is served by GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When you open it, GitHub processes technically necessary data in its server logs, including your IP address, date and time, the page requested and details of your browser. This keeps the site secure and available; the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. GitHub is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (an adequacy decision under Art. 45 GDPR) and also uses EU standard contractual clauses. See GitHub's privacy statement.

This website sets no cookies, loads nothing from other servers and does not count visits.

3. The app (app.linkgap.app)

The app runs on Render (Render Services, Inc., USA) in a data centre in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Render processes data on our behalf and provides a data processing agreement with EU standard contractual clauses for this (Art. 28 and Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR). When you use the app we process:

• Your account: your email address, optionally your name, your password only as a salted scrypt hash (never in plain text), optionally how you heard about linkgap, and a short tag of the link you signed up through. Also when you registered and last signed in, whether your account is approved, and your data allowance.
• Your projects: the domains you check or add as competitors, the results of those analyses, your own verdicts and shortlists, and link offers you import.
• Server logs: Render stores technically necessary data such as your IP address and the time of a request.

The legal basis for your account and projects is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (providing the service you asked for); for server logs, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Your projects are visible to your account only.

New accounts are approved by hand. There is no automated decision-making within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR.

4. Cookies and local storage

The app sets a single cookie, linkgap_session, to keep you signed in. It is strictly necessary (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG), is only sent over HTTPS and expires after 30 days or when you sign out. If you switch between the light and dark theme, your browser stores that preference locally; it never leaves your device.

5. Data sources for the analyses

To fetch backlink data, we send the domains you check to DataForSEO. For prices in the budget plan we retrieve link offers from Collaborator.pro's catalogue. We send no information about you to either.

6. Contact by email

If you write to us, we process your message and email address in order to reply (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). Our mailbox is provided by Google (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland).

7. How long we keep data

We keep account and project data until you ask us to delete it or we close the account. GitHub and Render keep server logs according to their own retention periods. We keep emails as long as we need them to handle your request, and longer only where the law requires it.

8. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). An email to seeberger.solutions@gmail.com is enough. You can also complain to a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU country where you live (Art. 77 GDPR).
